As a young child, there were several things I always dreamt i would do when I grow up: at a point I wanted to be a Nun, at some I wanted to be a Doctor. I finally studied computer science and dreamt of  working in a multinational; working in the IT department  as a System analyst or something close to that and climbing the career ladder. In all this, there was always one thing I knew I didn’t want to be: a stay-at-home mom. Or, in the parlance of my youth, a housewife.

BIG Naija wedding syndrome

In recent times, a lot of intending couples have been under pressure to have a high budget wedding, for some, it is now a sort of  competition; no thanks to social media!


This starts with the long lists presented to the groom by the brides family to expectations of a big societal wedding from parents and family, sometimes even the parents are more excited than the kids sef, so they want to go all out. You see fathers proudly saying ' My daughter is getting married' and mothers dishing out invites as if it is her wedding.
